Dear Members,
Checking moored vessels
Since the announcement last Sunday by the Victorian Government, we have received the following information from Sailing Australia who have had clarification on a vessel owners ability to travel outside their 5km radius to check on their vessel.
This is now allowed providing it is for emergency maintenance or safety purposes only, and:
- You should maintain physical distancing by keeping at least 1.5 metres between you and others and practise good hygiene – wash your hands and cough and sneeze into a tissue or your elbow.
- You must wear a face covering when you leave home, this includes wearing your face covering while at work, unless you have a lawful reason for not doing so.
- It is undertaken outside of curfew hours.
- You take proof of vessel ownership with you.
- You have proof of the vessels location. This could be a letter on club or marina letter head confirming its location.
Please note if Victorian Police pull you up they will be asking for this proof.
Kayak exercise
In Addition, Paddling Victoria announced that kayaking is allowed within a 5Km limit of your home, provided it is undertaken within the current one-hour exercise time limit and all of the prescribed precautions were complied with.
We are awaiting clarification on any possible return to recreational boating and sailing and will announce this as it becomes available.
- Under current Stage 4 restrictions, all forms of recreational boating are not allowed.
- Access to the Club premises must be via the Ramp gate and access to the Club house is not allowed.
- If you feel unwell or have any symptoms get COVID-19 tested and stay at home.
Warm regards
Brian Fentiman, Commodore
