Officer-of-the-Day and Duty Crew Information
All members of the sailing fleet can expect to serve as Officer of the Day (OOD) or as part of the Duty Crew during the sailing season. These roles include ensuring that races are conducted safely, race records are completed accurately (using the documents listed below; hard copies are also available), and adequate race support is available on the day. In conjunction with the Race Officer, OOD responsibilities may also include decisions about abandoning or postponing racing activities. The OOD is expected to remain aboard the start boat, the Jack Cox, throughout the race.
The OOD will chair the Race Management Team meeting, usually held at 12:00 pm for Saturday racing, and deliver the competitor race briefing at 12:50 pm.
The Duty Crew will assist the OOD in carrying out these responsibilities. Duty Crew members must also be available to serve aboard any of the Race Management boats if required.
If an OOD or Duty Crew member is unavailable on their rostered date, they are responsible for arranging a swap with another rostered member. If any difficulties arise, contact the Commodore without delay.
