Trailable yachts have been part of the active sailing fleet at Williamstown Sailing Club for most of the club’s existence.
We have a number of members who use their trailable yachts purely for social and recreational sailing, often making the most of the quiet days mid-week on Hobsons Bay and beyond into Port Phillip Bay. Sundays are another popular day where you will see any number of our trailable yachts loading on family and friends at the club jetty to enjoy the water.
From a racing perspective, the club has a strong history of serious competition in trailables at club, state and national level. Many a club champion has come from the trailable ranks, as well as state and national champions. Over the years, Williamstown Sailing Club has hosted many regattas at both state and national level in the trailable divisions.
We have a large fleet of trailable yachts that race in our summer and winter series, or enjoy their social sailing from the club. The major classes sailing at the club include Ultimate 16 and 18, Hartley 16, Hartley 18, and Explorer 16. We also have a small number of other boats from different classes, including GEM 550, Castle 550, Red Jacket and Careel 18.
If you have a trailable yacht and are looking for some interesting and competitive racing, please come and visit. We welcome visiting trailable yachts (18 feet or less) to join in our Saturday races. See the section on Information for visiting sailors.
There are many more yachts of various classes who race at our club. For more information Yachting Australia have a class information link on their web site.
