At Williamstown Sailing Club, we pride ourselves on being an inclusive, supportive, friendly and welcoming place for everyone.
I’d like to use the opportunity of having you all together today to enshrine these values into the new Member & Child Protection Policy which was adopted by the CoM during the off-season.
While this is essential document to ensure WSC complies with State and Federal laws, the policy is more than that – it provides an opportunity for us to articulate clearly the standards of conduct we all should expect from our members and people who use our Club.
It captures the values of respect, fairness and care for their well-being of others that everyone, including prospective members, should know makes WSC a great place to belong.
I would encourage you to take a look at the new Member & child protection policy.
The policy includes procedures to:
- keeping children safe
- report any incidents
- manage Working With Children Checks. For many volunteers, particularly those involved in TACKERS, Learn to Sail, Junior Sailing, rescue, first aid and some committees, a Member & Child Protection Declaration will be required. These will be distributed through the chair of the various committees or coordinator of the activities.
Our Child Protection Officers are Lois Hunt and Tracy Graham.
The CoM is committed to a safe and enjoyable environment for everyone at the Club, including children.
