Sunday 8 January 2017
We held a Discover Sailing Day on Sunday 8 January 2017.
Once again Williamstown Sailing Club hosted another Discover Sailing Day in partnership with Sailing Victoria on Sunday 8 January. The weather was bright and sunny and a strong wind warning on the bay did not dampen the popularity for the public of all ages to turn up and talk sailing. We had over 100 people through the doors to participate in the day.
The day provides an opportunity to go for a short sail with an experienced sailor, meet club members, have a look around the club and find out more about the sailing courses we offer.
Despite the strong wind which meant we couldn’t sail for the first hour, there was plenty happening, including a tow rode in a TACKERS OziOpti for the little sailors.
By late morning the wind had abated enough for the discover sailing on the water to go ahead in Pacers, the James Pearl, and other trailables and a long queue formed. Sandwiches and refreshments were on offer too.
Thanks to Peter Behrendt and the many club helpers it was a great success.
