Race 14 - summer sailing is here!...as only Melbourne can do.
Ok so no sun and a cool southerly wind, but it's Saturday and we are sailing! Yeah. It was quite a challenging day's sailing on the weekend with 19 starters from OTB and trailer sailors vying for top spots in their class. The winds were from the south and gusting up to 20 knots by the start of the race with some magic rollers heaving down on Sandridge Beach. A starboard course was set with the bottom mark close to Princes Pier and the turning mark over towards Webb dock. Triangle, Sausage, Triangle and away we go! Cheeky Monkey had a little wardrobe malfunction (spinaker halyard came loose) and then, in the last lap, the centre board popped up just at the wrong moment so hay ho a swimming we would go! We got her back up and pointing in the right direction pretty quickly but the competition had jumped ahead to leave us behind. Thank you Ian and Ian for a great course and standing in for a missing OOD. Can I ask you all to just do a quick check to see when you are due to help out on the club roster - either as OOD or as rescue crew or behind the bar. Every one of you is important to making our club function. Thank you all. And the preliminary race results are....
The Top Yacht results will be with by month end.
