Coronavirus update 1 April 2020: Club closed

Important notice from the Commodore

  • The Club is now closed to all members and visitors until further notice
  • Stop all forms of recreational boating

Under Victorian Government Stage 3 restrictions, the Club is now closed to all members and visitors until further notice.

Maritime Safety Victoria (MSV) has asked that Victorians stop all forms of recreational boating to help stop the spread of the coronavirus. The MSV has advised – “Marine Search and Rescue services do not have the same capability to perform rescues on the water as they normally would. Anyone choosing to head out on the water is putting themselves – and others – at increased risk”.

The only exception to access the Club grounds is to inspect boats on moorings, with access to be via the slipway gate and not via the Clubhouse. Access will be at your own risk and must adhere to all Victorian Government restrictions relating to the coronavirus.

During the close down period security and facility checks will be completed at the Club by a member of the Committee of Management (CoM), and any essential building maintenance will be undertaken.

If you require urgent access to the Club during the close down period, permission must be sought from the CoM.  To help you facilitate this, please liaise with either the Michael Virant (acting Rear Commodore) or myself (contact details below).

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation during this period of uncertainty, and as we all grapple with the ever changing environment in which we live.

When the Victorian Government advises that we have the all clear to head back out, we will shall let you know so that you can return to enjoying your boating, fishing and sailing.

Meanwhile, stay safe and well.

Warm regards

Brian Fentiman, Commodore
